Behind the research: Kefasi Nyikahadzoi

Over the course of the last 10 years, the Migrating out of Poverty consortium has drawn on the enthusiasm and expertise of many people across the globe. This blog series focuses on the people behind the research, who have kindly shared personal reflections and learning from their experience of working with the consortium.

Professor Kefasi Nyikahadzoi started working with the Migrating out of Poverty with the Centre for Applied Social Sciences at the University of Zimbabwe, coordinating work on the income and remittances theme.

“One of the biggest lessons I learnt is the importance of taking research results back to the communities who provided the data, for validation.  I also learnt how to provide qualitative explanations for emerging trends and patterns in the descriptive statistics.
We are very proud of the interactions that we had with national and district level stakeholders. Through those interactions, we were able to contribute towards policy designed to improve the welfare of migrant-sending households.”
The Migrating out of Poverty programme has been a true team effort, and we appreciate the role each individual has played in producing and disseminating the research.

Thank you for all your hard work with the Migrating out of Poverty programme, Kefasi!
